History
Long before being Called to Gray's Inn in July 1993, Lisa Sinclair was admitted to the Roll of Solicitors in June 1980. She worked in the City of London for some 12 years before leaving her position as a partner with Barlow Lyde & Gilbert to study full time for an MBA at the Business School of the City of London. Thus equipped to run her own business she sought Call to the Bar.
Whilst a Solicitor Lisa specialised in non-contentious Commercial Property eventually spending virtually all her time in the field of secured lending. Thus when considering any aspect of a property transaction, Lisa knows just how and why matters ought to be done. Further, where necessary, where they went awry. This inside track has enabled Lisa to develop a keen understanding of all the property related professions which gives her a special advantage when working in the field of professional negligence.
Since working as a Barrister, Lisa has continued to specialise in Commercial Property but now, additionally, of the contentious nature. Her areas of expertise have grown to encompass leasehold enfranchisement, construction disputes, co-partnership disputes and planning. Throughout Lisa has dealt with both freehold and leasehold property interests.
By way of organic growth, Lisa's practice now encompasses Construction law disputes. She has developed a competence in the highly specilaised TCC to the extent of successfully challenging the orthodox method of enforcing adjudication decsions.
Professional Negligence was an obvious add-on to Lisa's areas of practice when she was Called to the Bar. Her background gave her an unique insight into the working practices of solicitors and surveyors. She has been instructed to appear before many professional disciplinary bodies (those of Surveyors, Pharmacists, General Practitioners and Nurses) as well as before the specialist tribunals which hear complaints of professional maladministration such as the Care Standards Tribunal.
Probate competence derives from Lisa's early training as a Solicitor. This is field in which she developed a current interest.
Regulatory transport has become a feature of Lisa’s practice over the last 8 years – as a result of a recommendation of her skills as an advocate. She regularly appears before the Road Transport Tribunal and Transport Appeal Tribunal, having taken a number of issues further to the Court of Appeal. Lisa has gained valuable experience at all levels of our court system, appearing in the House of Lords and frequently in the Court of Appeal.
Lisa is equally practised in the field of alternative dispute resolution including mediation and construction adjudication.
Lisa’s post graduate qualification, a Masters Degree in Business Administration, has ensured that she appreciates how the practice of law can further commercial interests and play its part in achieving business goals.
